It was a shock to read news in the New Indian Express dt.13.05.09, Madurai edition. P.No.5. that the Block Development Officer and Tahsildar who are personally responsible to provide clean and protected drinking water, failed to pump out the decontaminating polluted water source in Keeelmorappur village in Harur Taluk. So the residents pumped out the polluted water from the overhead water tanks themselves.
One of the main and legitimate duties of the government is “providing protected drinking water to the people”. But the officials who are running the government machinery have not realized the importance of their duties. Really it is matter of serious concern.
